Congratulations to Pr. Drexler, Dr. Mrejen and Dr. Gocho for their lectures at Euretina 2014 in London!
The Imagine Eyes’ team wants to thank Pr. Wolfgang Drexler, Dr. Kiyoko Gocho and Dr. Sarah Mrejen for the great exposure given to our company’s products in their presentations at the 2014 Euretina meeting in London. We are also very grateful to their respective co-workers at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, the Nippon Medical School Hokusoh Hospital, Chiba, Japan and the Vitreous Macula Retina Consultants of New York, USA.
Dr Gocho and Dr Mrejen both presented clinical results based on cellular-level retinal images acquired with Imagine Eyes’ rtx1™ Adaptive Optics Retina Camera.
Dr Gocho’s lecture was entitled “High-resolution adaptive optics images of microcystic macular edema in patients with autosomal dominant optic atrophy”. Her presentation revealed how the rtx1 could detect microscopic signs of macular damage caused by optic nerve atrophy.
Dr Mrejen‘s lecture “Impact of different AMD phenotypes on cone density” showed how she used the rtx1 to directly observe alterations in visual cell density in retinas affected by macular drusen, which are known to be early signs of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
In both studies, the rtx1 provided stunning images of microscopic macular structures and enabled observing early signs of pathology that were invisible with other retinal imaging techniques.
Pr Drexler was invited as a keynote speaker at Novartis/Alcon’s Retina Night “From Galaxies to Photoreceptors”. In the course of his lecture on the latest -and amazing- developments in OCT imaging, he explained how and why Imagine Eyes’ adaptive optics technology, combined with OCT imaging, will revolutionize ophthalmic examinations.
