Symposium: “Adaptive Optics: Photoreceptor Imaging & Beyond”

During the annual meeting of the Japan Clinical Ophthalmology (Ringan) meeting, Imagine Eyes’ partner Vital Corp. organized a a special symposium that will include presentations from several rtx1 users.  The symposium took place on October 26, 2012, from 5:30 to 6:30PM, at the Grand Prince Hotel in Kyoto (1F) and was chaired by Pr. Hayashi, Chairman of the University of Toyama’s Department of Ophthalmology. The following presentations were given (in order):

  1. 1.    Dr. Tomoko Nakamura from the University of Toyama’s Department of Ophthalmology will present “Cone mosaic imaging in pathological and post-surgical conditions” and discuss the recovery of cones after serous RD of CSC and VKH and a case of RRD after scleral buckling;
  2. 2.    Dr. Kiyoko Gocho of the Nippon Medical School’s Chiba Hokusoh Hospital will discuss “Cellular-resolution monitoring of morphological changes in pathological retinas” including her work on healthy cases to establish a normative database as well as in MEWDS, geographic atrophy and OMD (occult macular dystrophy);
  3. 3.    Pr. Michel Paques of France’s Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmic Center will discuss “Beyond photoreceptor imaging: emerging applications of adaptive optics retinal imaging” and his experience in geographic atrophy, arterial hypertension, epiretinal membrane, vasculitis and retinal hemorrhage.
